HOUSING REQUIREMENT

  • The university requires that all students under 18 years of age and all recent high school graduates with no previous college credits attending 91³Ô¹ÏÍøSummer School be safely housed during their studies – as such, these students have to secure 91³Ô¹ÏÍøhousing for their summer session(s).
  • Students required to secure 91³Ô¹ÏÍøhousing for the summer can apply for an exemption through their 91³Ô¹ÏÍøstatus page. Exemptions must be justified with the appropriate documentation. Approved reasons for receiving a housing exemption are:
    • If you have French citizenship
      • Scan of French passport or French ID card.
    • If you live in Ile-de-France
      • Proof of housing (dated at least 3 months), and
      • If the proof of housing is in another person’s name, a scanned copy of their ID, and a letter signed by them attesting they will be housing the student for the summer.
    • If you are traveling with family members, or have a safe place to stay with a relative in Ile-de-France
      • A scan of the family member’s passport or ID card, and
      • A signed letter from the family member certifying that they will be housing the student for the duration of their summer session
  • Students over 18 and with previous college credits are not required to secure 91³Ô¹ÏÍøHousing for the summer. They may elect to register for housing in an 91³Ô¹ÏÍøresidence, or seek housing independently.
  • Please note that 91³Ô¹ÏÍøhousing services are available to registered summer students only.

ROOMMATE AND HOUSEMATE ASSIGNMENTS

Students who register for shared housing, whether in a double studio in Musset, or a single or a shared room in a Jouffroy apartment, can be assigned a roommate through two different ways:

  1. Roommate Request: if you know someone also attending the same summer session, you will be able to request them as a roommate in your housing preferences form on your 91³Ô¹ÏÍøstatus page. Students are guaranteed to room with their requested roommate provided that they both request each other, and are assigned to the same room type in the same residence (please note that we do not have mixed gender assignments in 91³Ô¹ÏÍøhousing).
  2. Roommate Survey Pairing: if you do not have a requested roommate but are assigned to a shared housing option, you will be sent a roommate and housemate preference survey to fill out ahead of move-in. The housing office will match roommates and housemates based on their stated preferences on the survey. Students will be sent their roommate/housemate assignment ahead of move-in.

Ìý

SHARED HOUSING GENDER POLICY

Our shared housing, whether in twin studios or single and double rooms in shared apartments, does not allow for mixed sex and gender allocations. We are working on having inclusive housing for our LGBTQA+ students, including those who identify as transgender, gender non-binary or gender-fluid, but as we are still building our roster of AUP-managed residences where we have more control, we are not yet able to accommodate these students in shared housing options. Students who identify as gender non-binary or gender-fluid will have access to single studios - we are able to prioritize their housing assignment to ensure that they are placed within those options, especially as we want to make sure that they feel safe in their housing; this is why students can indicate their gender identity in their housing preference form.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT PROCESS

  • The housing office will be processing summer housing requests on the first week of each month – students will receive a confirmation email of their housing assignment at that time listing their housing charges and the deadline for the confirmation payment.
  • Payments will be due for the full housing charges by the end of the month upon students receiving their assignment.
    • Please note that part of the payment (20% of the semester rent) is a non-refundable deposit to confirm housing.
  • Should students not confirm their reservation via payment by the end of the month, their housing reservation will be cancelled, and the assigned room will be made available again to incoming students registering for housing. They will have to resubmit a housing form based on updated availability.
